One of the highlights of October was getting to tattoo at the P.ink event. It was an amazing experience and I met some great people! Next year I will be offering free scar cover sessions throughout the year. When thinking about it- I realize the journeys we all take that may leave us scarred can be long. The empowerment of being able to choose something to cover your scars gives people back their power after feeling powerless. Surgeries, elective or not, self harm, accidents, abuse, scars can feel like shackles that hold you back. I look forward to doing this! Keep an eye out for some exciting announcements !

When she got her Chip tattoo she went with her mom to get matching tattoos. When her mom passed she decided to add her mom’s favorite flowers to this already special tattoo to memorialize her. I did a touch up on the original tattoo as well.

The short answer is: yes, but not in the way you might think. Being a tattoo artist means having a foundation in drawing and design, but it doesn’t require you to be a traditional fine artist. What’s more important is having a deep passion for learning the craft of tattooing, understanding how to translate ideas into art that fits a person’s body, and mastering the technical skills that come with working on skin. Creativity, adaptability, and a dedication to improving your technique are key.

So, if you love art and are willing to work hard at developing the skills, being a tattoo artist could be a great path for you—even if you don’t consider yourself a ‘classic’ artist. It’s all about how you channel your creativity into a different, living medium!

After such a wonderful weekend working with P.ink to gift this amazing woman a tattoo to cover one of her mastectomy scars, I have been really scrambling on ways to make this something that can happen more than once a year. I would also like to extend it to more scars. I am currently in the planning phase. So running through ideas on how I can implement this and integrate it in with my work. I would also challenge our local shops to hold an event like this- we need more of this everywhere. Check into places like P.ink or create your own event.

Coming to my shop by Monday some of the pieces I have been working on. I decided to just enjoy myself with these. I didn’t want to simplify my designs to make it easier to paint more of them. She has been chipping away at this sleeve for a couple of years now. Starting with the first tattoo I did for her- a floral heart on honor of one her furry family members. We then did a larger forearm piece, some flash designs I have had we put together to create a nice little floral piece, along with a hummingbird. This time around we added her dod Moses, a butterfly and dagger, and lots of flowers. So much fun! 💜
